Promoting Well Being, The Science and Practice of Happiness with Positive Psychology Coaching & Training
Opinions
First idea:
I believe that to truly enhance the well-being of our society, we must prioritize comprehensive training and coaching. There's a wealth of research and data on well-being and happiness, along with numerous interventions that could yield positive results.
However, it's evident from Amazon reviews of positive psychology books that people crave practical guidance:
"I didn't want to read all sorts of information about WHY changing my mind and life is important and possible. I wanted to learn HOW, and that's what the title promises."
"After all, it is easy to say you need 'engagement' without defining what engagement really is and how it can be achieved."
"On the positive side, the research is right on the money, these principles are correct. But if you were hoping to figure out how to apply them in your life from reading this book, sorry, look somewhere else."
"It's like reading a book called 'Instructions for Knitting a Sweater for your Baby' and discovering that only the last chapter is, in fact, instructive."
Second idea:
I'd like to introduce the concept of "Positive Preventive Psychology."
"Preventive interventions could spare countless individuals from suffering."
"Many psychologists predominantly focus on therapy, assisting individuals who seek treatment once their problems have become unbearable. In my view, therapy often comes too late. By acting proactively when individuals are still faring well, preventive interventions have the potential to prevent significant distress."
"The lessons from the last century of public health measures are clear: cure is uncertain, but prevention is remarkably effective. Consider how midwives washing their hands eradicated childbed fever and how immunizations put an end to polio."
"Is it possible to implement psychological interventions in youth that will prevent depression, schizophrenia, and substance abuse in adults? My research over the past decade has revolved around this very question. I've discovered that teaching ten-year-old children the skills of optimistic thinking and action can halve their risk of depression as they go through puberty." (Martins Seligman-Authentic Happiness)
Vision:
Our vision is to fuse elements of Positive Psychology and Creative Thinking into the Business World. We aim to contribute to the PERMA 51 Moonshot Goal initiated by Martin Seligman ("By the year 2051, 51 percent of the people in the world will be flourishing"). The mission to create a better, more flourishing world for both our generation and those that follow.
